All our nurses have done extra training and are able
to offer a wide range of services to patients including
the following:
- ACUTE ILLNESS
Treatment of acute illnesses, such as earache, sore throats, coughs, sticky eyes, hayfever, cystitis and urine infections, back pain, skin rashes etc. Treatment of minor injuries such as cuts, insect bites and sprains.
- MANAGEMENT OF LONGTERM CONDITIONS
Such as asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure and
heart disease.
- SEXUAL HEALTH ADVICE
Such as contraception (including emergency
contraception), sexual health screening and smear
tests.
- TRAVEL HEALTH ADVICE and VACCINATIONS
Please note that blood tests are usually taken by
our health care assistant.
As well as our practice nurses we have a team of community nurses attached to the practice. They can access and plan nursing care in your own home if you are unable to attend the surgery. You may be referred by the doctor or by the hospital. You can also contact them direct on Sheffield 0114 271 6959.
Healthcare Assistant
The Health Care Assistants are available Monday to Friday to take blood samples, monitor blood pressure, perform new patient checks and help the doctors and nurses with a range of other services.
Community Midwife
The midwife regularly monitors the health of mother and baby during pregnancy. Your midwife will discuss with you where you would like your baby to be born and discuss any concerns you may be having. After your baby is born the midwife will visit you at home for the first ten days.
Health Visitor
Will give advice on health care for babies and children under 5 years of age, expectant mothers and general family health. Children will undergo regular assessments.
